2022 Loyalty Memberships Go On Sale November 1st

2022 Loyalty sales and renewals will begin November 1st
2021 Loyalty memberships will expire on December 31, 2021
Current memberships will not be extended or prorated
Current members that do not renew will have until March 1, 2022 to use their remaining points

Frost Monthly Q & A

It's that time of year where we are seeing frost delays in the mornings. Why is this important and how do I plan for it?

Q: Why should I care if there is frost on the ground?

A: Think of your fingers getting frostbite, would you let someone walk on your fingers if they are frozen? Of course not, if you are lucky, you can warm your fingers up gradually and cells will thaw without dying. If you walk on frozen turf, you will rupture the cells of the plant and it will die. If you let the turf thaw naturally and without traffic, it will resume normal cell functions once the frost has gone.

Q: Why is there frost at the course? There isn’t any frost at my house.

A: Golf courses are a lot different than residential lawns, we have microclimates where lower lying areas create cooler pockets than just flat graded lawns. These microclimates can be problematic when it comes to holding cooler air longer.

First Green Event at Willis Case provides and innovative educational experience to local students

On September 28th, Willis Case Golf Course, in conjunction with First Tee Denver and GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America), hosted an innovative environmental education outreach program that uses golf courses as environmental learning labs. Golf course Superintendent, Steve Schommer, welcomed 45 fifth graders from Centennial Elementary for a First Green event.

The First Green Program focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) principles where students get hands-on learning opportunities in a real-life setting. First Green curriculum benefits students in middle school to 12th grade by helping them apply their classroom knowledge in an outdoor setting. First Green is a program of the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), which is the top professional association for the men and women who manage golf courses in the United States and worldwide. Winter Tee Sheets

Starting November 8th, all 18-hole tee sheets will be going to a split tee start on holes 1 and 10. This is to help reduce frost delays and help maximize 18-hole tee times during the winter months.

The First Tee of Denver

More Than A Game Luncheon
November 3, 2021

Join us at our More Than a Game Luncheon to celebrate our successes and to hear from our remarkable participants! This is a free lunch. Yes, it is a fundraiser, but we have to inspire people to want to give. We are looking to inspire people to help in any number of ways, like becoming a volunteer or committee member, providing connections with businesses or other nonprofits, etc.

The presentation will be fantastic. You will not be disappointed! Bring anyone you would like.

Some things to keep in mind about the event:

It's totally FREE
It will only be one hour long
There will be no requirement of anyone to give at the event

Where: Police Protective Association, 2105 Decatur St., Denver, CO 80211 (free and ample parking)

When: November 3, 2021 from 12- 1 PM

Why: To allow First Tee Denver to continue to offer free and reduced-fee programs to schools and families

Lunch being served will be a seasonal cobb salad and delectable dessert
